Timber codes in ePack
Each timber code in ePack is linked to a unique set of dimensions and properties.
A timber code therefore consists of:
Dimensions
- Thickness
- Width
- Length
Properties
- Type
- UoM (Unit of Measurement)
- Quality
- Treatment
- Operations
- Species
- Origin

Governance of Properties
For all properties, controlled value lists have been defined.
These lists are centrally managed in ePackMaster and can only be extended by the Central Data Team, following internal consultation.
This governance is in place to prevent uncontrolled proliferation of values and to ensure data consistency.
Display in ePack
- Thickness, width, and length are displayed in all relevant ePack screens, as before.
- Characteristics are shown via a summary field called Characteristics. By hovering over the field you can see the description of the abreviations.

- If a characteristic is not filled in (as not all characteristics are mandatory), it will be displayed as โ-โ in the characteristics summary.

Creation of timber codes
It is no longer possible for users to create timber codes themselves.
If an additional timber code is required for accounting purposes, it must be requested from the Central Data Team.
The request must clearly specify:
- the dimensions (thickness, width, length);
- all mandatory properties (Type, Uom & Quality)
If any nonโmandatory properties are applicable, these must also be provided as part of the request, to ensure the timber code is created correctly and consistently.
