PGS chooses Odoo as the ERP platform for the sawmill in Giesdorf

A phased implementation that modernises operational processes and makes them scalable for the future.

The challenge

PGS faced the challenge of digitising and integrating the business processes of the sawmill in Giesdorf. The operation required a modern, reliable and scalable ERP system that aligned with the specific requirements of the wood processing industry, from procurement through processing to invoicing.

At the same time, the platform had to be future-proof: integrations with other PGS locations and expansions to additional modules had to be feasible without disrupting ongoing operations.

The approach: phased and controlled

Together with PGS, we consciously chose a phased implementation strategy. This approach allows us to deliver value quickly, manage risks, and gradually involve the team in the change.

Phase 1: Go-live 1 April 2026

  • Order to Cash: from sales order to invoicing and collection
  • Procurement to Pay: from purchase order to supplier payment

With these two core processes as foundation, the daily operation of the sawmill runs entirely in Odoo. The focus was on a stable, well-configured base that serves as a starting point for further expansions.

Next phases

  • Inventory Management: inventory management optimised for wood volumes and qualities
  • EDI connection with other PGS locations: seamless data sharing between sites
  • COC tracking (Chain of Custody): traceability of wood throughout the entire chain, from forest to end product, in accordance with FSC and PEFC certification requirements
  • EUDR compliance (EU Deforestation Regulation): digital dossier creation and due diligence reporting in accordance with the European anti-deforestation legislation applicable to wood products

Why Odoo?

Odoo offers a layered, modular approach that perfectly aligns with PGS's growth strategy. The choice was supported by several key factors:

  • All-in-one platform: sales, purchasing, inventory, production and accounting in one system
  • Fast time-to-value thanks to a proven implementation methodology
  • Scalable: easily expandable with additional modules and sites
  • Strong integration capabilities for EDI and multi-site connections

Result

From 1 April 2026, the sawmill in Giesdorf will process all sales and purchase flows via Odoo. The phased approach ensures stable operation and gives the PGS team time to get to know the system before the next expansions are activated.

With Inventory, EDI integration, COC traceability and EUDR compliance on the agenda, Odoo at PGS Giesdorf is evolving from an operational system to a fully connected, sector-specific ERP platform that meets European regulations.
